The landscaping concept of the Zuri Zanzibar Hotel in Tanzania embraces the natural beauty of its tropical surroundings and plays a central role in shaping the resort’s identity. Spread across more than 30 acres of tropical grounds overlooking Kendwa Beach, the property is organised like a lush garden village where villas and thatched bungalows are carefully dispersed within dense vegetation to ensure privacy and immersion in nature. The gardens were planted with hundreds of native trees, palms, and tropical species to recreate a rich coastal ecosystem and preserve the natural character of Zanzibar. Pathways wind through layered greenery, connecting the accommodations with the beach, infinity pool, restaurants, and wellness areas while creating shaded, intimate spaces throughout the resort. A distinctive feature of the landscape is the spice garden reflecting Zanzibar’s history as the “Spice Island.” This aromatic garden is organised into several glades planted with diverse spices and tropical plants, creating a sensory environment used for quiet walks, meditation spaces, and culinary experiences such as Swahili cooking classes.
