Ayqua and kadeen Resort Wellness is a luxury wellness destination developed across two islands in Saudi Arabia: the natural island of Ayqua and the artificially created island of Kadeen. Together, they form a fragmented yet cohesive resort experience that immerses guests in diverse landscapes and intimate outdoor settings. The overall site covers approximately 160,000 m², with the natural island preserving existing topography, dunes, and native vegetation, while the artificial island is designed with sculpted beaches, lagoons, and terraces that extend the wellness experience into the sea. The resort’s accommodation program is deliberately dispersed across the two islands to maintain privacy and a strong connection to nature: around 450 rooms and suites, 150 beachfront villas, and 90 garden villas, distributed across clusters that offer panoramic views, shaded courtyards, and quiet outdoor spaces. Key resort facilities—including wellness pavilions, dining venues, lounges, and recreational areas—are located strategically across both islands, encouraging exploration and interaction with the landscape. A central concept of the project is the redesign of accommodation patios, which act as intimate, restorative micro-landscapes for guests. Each patio is carefully integrated into its cluster, providing shade, seating, water features, and layered vegetation to enhance comfort and sensory engagement. On Ayqua, patios respond to the natural desert and coastal conditions, using native plants and natural stone, while on Kadeen, they are more sculptural and playful, interacting with lagoons, promenades, and terraces. Together, these patios and outdoor spaces form a network of wellness micro-environments, connecting the fragmented resort clusters into a unified island experience that balances privacy, exploration, and immersion in nature.
